FROM THE PASTOR
G’day to you in the name of Jesus who loves and forgives us and constantly showers us with his grace.
“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:11).
So another Christmas season of being bombarded by what all the Aussie celebs are doing over Christmas; how they are going to spend Christmas; what they are buying; what they are giving; what they are expecting to receive; where they are spending their time; what they are eating; wearing; how much fun it will be with trimming trees, making plans and preparation. No doubt they will mention all that and more.
Out of it all, what do you think will rate the highest? Children and family. Out of it all, what will not rate the lowest? You betcha. Each year I am increasingly amazed and disappointed, but not at all surprised when I think of it objectively, that very few (literally a few) will make reference, or mention the thing that really matters; the crux of Christmas, the mass of the matter that makes up Christmas – none other than the birth of the Christ-Child.
JESUS has been taken out of Christmas to little or with no regard at all. The greatest gift the world has ever known, has been and again this year will be overlooked. Oh yes, don’t worry, Jesus will be there, lumped together with whatever else that doesn’t matter; you can make that assumption, and draw those conclusions for yourself. However, how easy will it be, not just for those celebrities, but for each one of us, in this so called “busy” time of year, to easily overlook God’s gift of a saviour to us, Jesus, who is Christ the Lord. Advent is the season that serves to remind us, that JESUS is at the heart of all we do at Christmas.
We Pray For:
† Those who are blind, lame, deaf or suffering from any other disability.
† Those who help people with disabilities.
† Families, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters.
† Travellers over holiday time.
† Those caught up in material preparations for Christmas.
