FROM THE PASTOR
pentecost - the holy spirit
“The wind blows where it pleases, you may hear its sound, but you can not tell where it comes from or
where it is going, so it is with everyone born of the spirit” (John 3:8).
Wind is a powerful force, yet we never see it, only its results; what it does. Jesus says the Holy Spirit is like that, not that the Spirit is merely a force; the Spirit is God along with the Father, and with Jesus Christ, the Son. But the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity is unseen, like the wind. And like the wind, what the Spirit does, can be seen.
Now, the Spirit of God works in us, in our hearts, minds and wills. The Holy Spirit teaches us to know Jesus Christ, to trust in Jesus and follow. So, this means change. Observable change. Change in the way we think, act, talk and treat each other. For example, bitterness and anger is replaced with contentment and warmth; selfishness becomes unselfishness; indifference becomes concern; words that hurt, are exchanged for words that help; superiority becomes humility.
The Spirit of God, may be unseen, but the new life the Spirit creates in Christ’s disciples is CLEARLY visible.
We Pray For:
† The church, that by its love everyone may know we are disciples of the Lord.
† All nations, that they may see the glory of God in Jesus Christ.
† Reconciliation between races, cultures and nations.
† Those who mourn, that God would wipe away all their tears.
† An end to death and suffering and pain, an end to hunger and disease.
